About MKF

Inspired by Mary we move forward to save lives

The Mary Kerubo Foundation was established to honor the legacy of Mary Kerubo, a compassionate woman known for her generosity and community support. At just 33 years old, Mary tragically passed away due to a heart-related condition while in class. Her sudden passing, despite not being obese or showing obvious risk factors, highlights the reality that heart disease can affect anyone, regardless of appearance or age. In response, the foundation is committed to raising awareness, promoting early detection, and empowering communities with life-saving education on heart health. Our initiatives include awareness campaigns, free screenings, CPR training, and advocacy. A key component of our outreach is organizing awareness walks to engage communities, encourage active lifestyles, and emphasize heart health education.

Our Vision

A world where heart disease is preventable, and every individual has access to life-saving awareness and care.

MKF Heart awareness walk

The Mary Kerubo Heart Awareness Walk, which was successfully held on the recent date of September 28th in Kisii, Kenya, marked a powerful demonstration of the community's commitment to heart health. As the founder of the Mary Kerubo Foundation, Dr. Kennedy Mwenngei Ombaba established the organization following the tragic, sudden loss of his beloved wife, Mary Kerubo, and the event served as a critical opportunity to honor her legacy by promoting vital life-saving knowledge and advocating for early detection. The walk was executed successfully with support from various partners, including the Kisii County Government, ensuring the mobilization of essential resources for the initiative. Dr. Ombaba has confirmed that the Mary Kerubo Heart Awareness Walk will be an annual tradition, consistently held on World Heart Day to ensure that Mary's spirit continues to inspire the community to prioritize heart health and empower them against preventable heart disease.
