About Dr. Mwengei Ombaba (Ph.D)– The Founder
Dr. Mwengei Ombaba founded the Mary Kerubo Foundation in 2025, following the heartbreaking loss of his beloved wife, Mary Kerubo, to a sudden heart-related condition. Mary passed away unexpectedly while in class at just 33 years old leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community service.
Driven by her spirit and a deep desire to prevent such tragedies in other families, Dr. Ombaba established the foundation to raise awareness about heart disease and empower communities with life saving knowledge and resources.
A father, community leader, and tireless advocate, Dr. Ombaba believes that early detection, education, and action can save lives. Through the foundation’s work, he is committed to ensuring heart health becomes a priority in homes, schools, and institutions across Kenya and beyond.
Under his leadership, the foundation spearheads impactful initiatives including:
- CPR and emergency response training.
- Free heart health screenings.
- Public awareness and education campaigns.
- The annual Mary Kerubo Heart Awareness Walk, held on World Heart Day.
